Welcome back to the Pizza Interview, a series from New York Times Cooking where the Q&A has a catch: Our guests have to make pizza.
“Bridgerton,” the romance series following eight siblings as they navigate love and high society in the Regency era, returns to Netflix on Thursday for the first part of its fourth season. This chapter centers on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), the family’s second son. A committed bachelor, he faces mounting pressure from his mother to settle down, especially now that his younger sister Francesca (Hannah Dodd) has married. When a mysterious masked woman at a masquerade ball enchants Benedict, he sets out to uncover her true identity. What he doesn’t realize is that she isn’t part of high society at all — she’s a maid named Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).

Have you ever made a pizza before?
YERIN HA I have made a pizza before but, like, prebought the base.
HANNAH DODD Yes, exactly, yes.
HA Which I do think is a little bit criminal.
DODD It’s cheating.
Do you like to cook?
HA I don’t think I’m a bad cook. I just don’t cook because I’m by myself all the time.
[both laughing]
HA I enjoy baking more.
DODD You brought cookies to set, and they were delicious, so I can vouch for the baking skills. I cook. Like, I feed myself. Feeding other people, I think I would maybe be ashamed.
What’s your favorite pizza place?
DODD Pizza Hut.
HA Pizza Pilgrims in London is really good.
DODD That’s nice.
Growing up, what was your family’s pizza order?
HA My family’s pizza order was, like, a meat lover’s and a barbecue chicken.
DODD I’m a vegetarian now, but I’m pretty sure we would order a “meateor.” And it’s got all kinds of meats on with barbecue with loads of cheese. So much cheese.

What’s your earliest or fondest memory of food?
HA My mom’s teat.
[both laughing]
HA Probably my mom’s cooking. My mom would always cook delicious Korean food for us, so probably always having a stew and side dishes.
DODD What was your favorite dish that she would make you?
HA It’s kalbi-jjim, actually. Which is, like, a Korean, soy-ish marinated stew kind of vibe. I don’t see my mom that often, but when I do go back home, I always tell her to make that for me.
DODD Aw, that’s so nice. That’s so beautiful.
HA What about you?
DODD Unfortunately, the first thing that came into my head was my dad made a banana bread and used blue food coloring instead of vanilla essence, and I can’t get past that. That’s family cooking in the Dodd household. He also made a lasagna once, and we didn’t have lasagna sheets so he used balls of spaghetti and just shoved it on top of the lasagna and hoped for the best. Those are my cooking memories.
Have either of you ever worked in the food service industry?
DODD Yeah, I was a waitress. I also worked in a hotel where I cleaned, but my favorite part of that job was folding napkins and ironing the napkins. It’s a full job. I would just put on Netflix and iron the napkins. That was really fun.
HA I was working at my university cafe. I really just took, like, coffee orders and put Vegemite on bread and gave it to them.
What’s your go-to hangover meal?
DODD Pesto pasta. I feel like I never grew out of that. I made it fancy now.
HA What’s the fancy bit?
DODD Here’s what you do: Red onion, pine nuts, mushroom, shrimp.
HA Shrimp?
DODD She’s been in America. Prawns. It takes like two seconds to make, but it’s yummy.
HA That sounds amazing.
DODD What’s your hangover cure?
HA My hangover meal is McDonald’s.
DODD Oh yeah, same, let’s do that.
HA Cheeseburger. Chicken nuggets.
Do you have a favorite American food?
DODD What counts as American food?
HA I was just thinking the same thing. Burgers? Ribs? American barbecue?
DODD As a vegetarian, those are my favorite food groups. Magnolia Bakery!
HA Levain Bakery! As you can tell, we have sweet tooths.
DODD I showed up with some Magnolia for you yesterday.
HA She did, and it was the best thing ever because their banana pudding is lit.
If you were to show each other around your hometowns, what’s the first thing you’d eat?
DODD Spoons. [Laughs] That won’t mean anything.
HA Spoons? What’s Spoons?
DODD I mean, in my hometown there was a Spoons, which is, like, the cheapest pub food you could get. Where would you take me?
HA Maybe a fish and chip place just by the beach.
DODD You’d take a Brit to a fish and chip shop?
HA OK, I’m sensing a lot of judgment here! We have great fish and chips.
DODD Do you?
HA We should just compare which country does better fish and chips.
DODD Well, I know what my vote is.
HA We are literally by the water.
DODD We have beaches, they’re just gray. OK?
Has anyone from the cast thrown a dinner party?
HA Katie [Leung] threw a dinner party, actually. I learned how to play mahjong at Katie’s place, as well. And that was really, really nice. Actually, her mom cooked. I feel like I’m throwing Katie under the bus.
DODD She invited us over, but she didn’t cook!
If you were a food dish, what would you be? Can you answer for each other?
DODD The cookies that you bake because you’re super sweet.
HA Aw, and you’re like the banana pudding because you’re super sweet.
[both laughing]
HA Do you not like that one?
DODD No, I’ll take it. I’ll take it. Sweet treats.
HA Sweet treats. We’re desserts.
