The Houston Astros seek a three-game home sweep of the Minnesota Twins this afternoon.

Left-hander Brandon Walter takes the mound for Houston, having compiled five strikeouts in each of his first two starts.

The Twins are one of four teams in MLB that has struck out fewer than 300 times against opposing starting pitchers. However, Minnesota has struggled recently against left-handed starters.

In the last four games against southpaws, the Twins have struck out at least five times each game, averaging seven strikeouts per contest.

Walter has walked just one batter in 11 innings of work and faces a Minnesota lineup that ranks 22nd in the league in walk rate at 7.9%, so he should get the Twins to swing outside the strike zone today.

The Seattle Mariners entered this weekend having lost nine of 10 games, but they are on the verge of sweeping the Cleveland Guardians at home.

Emerson Hancock has hit the over on his strikeout prop in three consecutive home games, while averaging 4.75 strikeouts in his past four home outings.

Opposing pitchers have cashed the over on their strikeout prop in 11 of the past 13 games against Cleveland. One of the unders came Saturday night, when Seattle’s George Kirby came up just short despite racking up five strikeouts.

Right-handed starting pitchers have posted at least four strikeouts in nine of the last 10 outings against the Guardians.
